Teror Market & Island Tour |
My favorite way to spend a Sunday morning and not that easy to do with no other English tour companies doing this so something I thought nice to organize just before Christmas.
Each Sunday the northern town of Teror in Gran Canaria is home to the island's largest and busiest craft market. Both the town of Teror and the market are very much Canarian in style and theme; not spoilt by mass tourism as has happened in the south of the island (no tacky souvenir stalls where all there is to buy are phony watches or tatty t-shirts). The market is an ideal find for anyone looking for local craft, wares, gifts or souvenirs to take back home. The town is one of the most typical and picturesque Canarian towns on the island and well worth a visit for that in itself but combined with the market, a great day out. With Christmas coming up, this is the perfect time to do some Spanish shopping and afterwards, see some of the Canarian countryside.
Working with a local tour company, I'm running a shopping and sightseeing trip to Teror starting this coming Sunday 21st December (and every Sunday from January 2004 onwards), Picking up around 0900 to 0930 with just a handful of stops so you won't be spending all morning on a coach looking for people! Traveling up the motorway to Teror town and market, the tour is accompanied so someone will be there to tell you a little about the journey along the way and what to look out for other than the market once in Teror. Free time in Teror from around 10:45 to 12:30 followed by a lunch of typical tapas in a nearby, local restaurant.
After lunch it's back to the south but this time through the mountains and the very center of the island, passing volcanic formations, pine forests and through Canarian villages to Cruz de Tejeda, almost 7000 feet up in the mountains where's there's a refreshment break and time to admire the amazing views of the center of the island and Tenerife from up there. Back down through the canyons of the south there's another refreshment stop in San Bartolome (at Las Tirajanas hotel) which offers the most stunning views of the south of the island as well as some samples of local cheese and wine. Back to the resorts for around 5pm.
For each trip, I need to get a minimum 8 people interested so they run and numbers will generally (unless a large family/small group are included in the numbers) be limited to 18 rather than taking out a large 55 seater coach packed with people.
The price is 35 euros per adult and 25 euros per child
which includes a lunch of Spanish tapas up in a mountain restaurant.

There's also a half-day tour to the cave-village of Guayadeque and neighbouring town of Aguimes.
